Setting: SEA BREEZE, Main Deck
The young woman watched with undivided attention the helmsman of the wooden ship the second away team had set out on in search of their fellow shipmates… actually the redheaded woman had been more interested by the creature standing behind the horse headed navigator. At first the CO's thought had been focussed on the Oltharian whom she had left in command of the ANUBIS while the rest of the senior staff had set out on this rescue mission. Rikar had thought it best to keep everyone on the senior staff together in order to have as many resources available confident that Elan would be more than capable of insuring that the ANUBIS and the rest of its crew remained out of harm's way. After a short while though the redheaded woman had found herself strangely drawn to the mysterious looking beast… the way he stood and glared out into nothing being oddly reminiscent of a particular Intel Operative Sabrina had been married to.
"I hope that you have found the accommodations we have made for you are your people acceptable?" Fasham offered as he moved up to stand next to the focussed CO of the USS ANUBIS from which they had departed from less than an hour ago.
"My Sec/Tac officer, Lt. Uxtar did complain that the 'beds' were a little small for him… but I doubt that he will be getting that much rest on this journey… everyone else seemed most pleased with everything and asked me to extend their thanks for all that you have done for us thus far." Rikar acknowledged with a faint smile still not entirely convinced that Fasham's sole reason to help had been to find their four missing officers whom he had claimed had been in grave danger. There had been too many unanswered questions about this world and its people, but the more time the young woman dwelled on the subject the stronger the feeling grew within her that something larger had been taking place on this world… something which required closer investigation.
"I thought you had said that the *Cats* were at war with all of the other races on this planet?" The young woman continued after several moments of silence… her emerald eyes never drifting away from the large and muscular grey cat standing behind the helmsman, his arms crossed over his chest as if anticipating some unpleasant happening.
"Not *all* Cats think themselves better than the rest… he just knows he is." Fasham explained with such seriousness that the young woman had no other choice but to end her vigil and turn to face the half fish man to see if he had been joking in some way. When Rikar noticed the expression on the creature's features the redheaded woman immediately knew that the words spoken had not been meant as a joke but had been uttered with the highest possible respect and admiration.
"Is he someone of importance?" The CO found herself asking as she returned her investigating glance onto the regal looking beast who had not moved a whisker since the last time she had laid eyes on him. The Cat's grey fur seemed to glisten in the light of the setting sun which only served to add to the mystery which surrounded this majestic beast.
"His name is Venger… and he would claim to be nothing more than a man wishing for peace. As far as the crew of the SEA BREEZE is concerned though… he is their defender. More than once he has proven himself by saving many of our people in times of crisis. He is a creature of few words and fewer actions, but those actions speak volumes about where his loyalties and heart are. All I can say is that you should not fear him… and in fact you should be happy that he is onboard." Fasham explained again letting the admiration he felt for the mysterious creature lace his every word.
The young woman slowly tilted her head to one side as she continued to scrutinize the massive 'protector' and as hard as she might have tried the redheaded woman could not bring herself to *fear* this Venger… instead she found herself comparing him in many ways to Enaii… the two of them apparently sharing a great many numbers of qualities and personal dispositions.
