| History: A big wrestling fan herself, it seemed inevitable that this Canadian girl would eventually find herself in the wrestling spotlight. One day, Trish Stratus was discovered in Toronto while working at a gym. She was approached about doing a photo shoot for a magazine, and accepted. Since 1998, she's been featured in a number of fitness and modelling publications including Muscle Mag International, the Fitt Health Journal, Oxygen magazine, and the UK's Optimum Health and Fitness among others. In 1999, Trish got her foot in the door as far as wrestling is concerned by joining Live Audio Wreslting as a co-host. From there, the WWE and WCW both took interest in her, and both offered her contracts. Trish opted to accept the WWE deal, stating that her decision stemmed from the fact that she was simply a big "mark" for the WWE and it would be a dream come true to appear on a WWE broadcast. Following her signing, she underwent some training under the tutelage of Ron Hutchison, the same man responsible for training the likes of Edge, Christian, Johnny Swinger, and Tiger Ali Singh. She then waited patiently while the WWE worked on getting her a work visa to allow her to work in the United States. Then, on Tuesday, March 14, Trish Stratus made her WWE debut as part of a Smackdown/Sunday Night Heat taping, which aired on television March 19. SHe had appeared on the SNH tapings. Her initial appearance saw her scout both Test and Albert, and she immediately became their manager (with the team name being T and A) the following week on RAW. In just a short time in the WWE Trish Stratus has become one of the company's hottest attractions. The looks, the voice, the love of the business; Trish's future of the is limitless in the WWE. In 2000 she was a popular figure alongside Test and Albert and enjoyed a good 6 months of feuding with the likes of the Dudley Boyz and the Hardy Boyz and Lita. She later left Test and stayed with Albert but eventually left him. In September of 2000 she was enjoying a feud with the upcoming Diva, Lita, and the fans were loving every minute of the feud. She even competed in the first ever bra and panties match whcih to this day is a popular gimmick match among most male fans. In 2001 she entered her biggest storyline while in the WWE, that being a top ranking feud with Stephanie. This came about when Trish began to spend countless hours with Mr. McMahon, who later dumped Trish and sided with his daughter Stephanie. WWE management had Trish beg on live tv for a chance to go back to Mr. McMahon. From there on Trish was a slave to Vince and Stephanie until Wrestlemania 17 arrived which saw Trish turn on Vince and help Linda and Shane McMahon. This was the last we would see of Trish until June/July 2001 which would see her return to team up with long-time rival Lita to take on WCW's Stacy Keibler and Torrie Wilson. Funny enough Lita and Trish teamed up to face Torrie and Stacy in a bra and panties match, the very match they created. Of course they won the match and this saw Trish leave tv again. In the fall Trish returned to WWE tv to co-host a show called WWE Excess which is a live talk show which airs on Saturday at 10pm ET on TNN. During her time in the WWE she has taken part in various major photoshoots such as Divas in Hedonism and Postcard From the Carribean. He has also appeared on the cover of various magazines including the April 2001 issue of Raw Magazine. Also she has appeared in the Divas in Hedonism video/dvd. At the 2001 Survivor Series Trish on a Six-Pack Challenge to become the new Women's Champion and her retain would continue for some time as she defeated Jackie at Vengeance and Jazz at the 2002 Royal Rumble to retain her title. Sadly she lost the title to Jazz in February. During a special tv show called WWE Divas Sex on the Beach Trish was awarded the front cover of the Divas 2002 Magazine and was then known as the Divas 2002 covergirl. She then went on to face both Jazz and Lita in a Triple Threat match at Wrestlmania 18 in her hometown but sadly lost. She was drafted to RAW and began a hot feud with Molly which actually saw Trish getting big wins over both Molly and Jazz during various bouts ash she scored another big win over the pair at Insurrextion when she and Jackie defeated them. She was then rewarded a shot at Jazz's Women's Championship on the May 6th Raw but ended up becoming the Hardcore Champion. She sadly lost the title striaght away to Steven Richards after being put through a table by mistake by Bubba. The following week on RAW she teamed up with Bumma to face Jazz and Steven in a double title match that saw Trish finally regain her Championship as well as send Jazz crashing through a table. Trish would then go on to retain her title when she defended it against Stacy Keibler at Judgment Day adn then a week later in a bra and panties match. SHe would later lose the title to Molly Holly but would regain it in fashion at Unforgiven 2002 and then defeat Molly and Victoria the following night on Raw. Trish was featured in the Divas Undressed magazine and video/dvd in October 2002. October was also a big month for her as her feud with Victoria stepped up a gear and she defeated her at the No Mercy PPV. Trish also won the 2002 Babe of the Year tournament. At Wrestlemania Trish defeated both Jazz and Victoria to become the Women's Champion for the fourth time. The only other female to do this was the Fabulous Moolah. Sadly, she would lose the title to Jazz at Backlash. Trish was on the cover of the Divas magazine in 2003, making it her second year in a row. She's also featured in the Divas Desert Heat video and has filmed several commericials throught the year. credit: redhotdivas.com |
