Police Looking for Witnesses in Obie Trice Shooting

Investigators for the Michigan State Police are looking for witnesses to the shooting of rapper Obie Trice, which occurred in Detroit on the Lodge Freeway Christmas Eve.

At about 1:10 a.m., the 28-year-old Eminem protégé and his girlfriend were traveling northbound when shots came from another vehicle through the back window of Trice's sport utility vehicle. Trice was able to continue driving and exited the freeway in the suburb of Southfield, where his girlfriend, who was not injured, flagged down police.

Trice was not seriously injured.  He was treated for a graze wound to his head and released from Providence Hospital.

Trice's grandmother, Delois Askew made the following comment: "He's doing fine. He's pretty much back to his normal self," Trice's grandmother, Delois Askew, told the Detroit News Sunday.

In the meantime, police are asking for assistance from the public in leads to apprehend a suspect.

"We have no suspects, and we don't have any information on the other vehicle," Michigan State Police Sgt. Mario Gonzalez said Sunday. "We're hoping that someone who saw what happened can provide us with information."       .

Trice has refused to comment on the shooting.   He's a shy person.  He's decided he doesn't want to say anything about it," his grandmother said.

Trice, who has performed on Eminem records, released his debut album "Cheers" in 2003. He also had a small part in the feature film "8 Mile."
