A high-pitched wail of sadness pierced the otherwise calm nighttime air of the weyr. Odd rolled his eyes and shushed Hacksaw gently. Please calm down Gao, it's far from the end of the world. Shuddering with overdramatic sobs, the purple-bronze mutt covered his face with a bronze-taloned paw. "But... how could she not want me? Am I repugnant in some way, do I offend? The llithra rolled his eyes, barely managing to keep his comment to himself. You are not repugnant. Just because a female did not pick you for once in your life, does not automatically make you a hideous monster. Hacksaw's emerald eyes became comically huge and watery. "I'm a hideous monster!" he shrieked.
Banging filled the room suddenly, there was someone at the door. Odd heaved a sigh and left Hacksaw to his melodrama to answer the door. When the llithra pulled the string to release the latch on the door, he was face to face with is aged assistant and Tiberius. The illori was fuming as he paced inside. Just what in the name of Faranth is going on up here!? he demanded, tail flicking agitatedly from side to side. Nimue, Ty's own "assistant" llithra zoomed into the room and glided circles around her larger kin. Faranth! Faranth! she parroted, nipping playfully at Odd. Oh, it's Gao. He's a little... upset. Odd was relieved to have backup, even if the black female Nimue was waggling her tail at him and fanning her rudder fins suggestively.
A little? I had K'mon and Kjedoreth both stampeding to my quarters! The mutt's side of the weyr had become suspiciously quiet until he caught the two of them staring. Fresh sobs came immediately. Well, he lost that flight last sevenday at Darking Dawn. The illori glared at him, refusing to believe that something so common could upset the purple-bronze so. It was his first loss. Odd added quickly to a punctuated shriek from Hacksaw. ... That's really the reason he's so upset? Ty's face was expressionless with disbelief when Odd nodded.
Apparently Hacksaw had sobbed himself out, for the only sound from his side of the weyr was intermittent snuffles and pronounced, shuddering sighs. The illori blinked in thought, and Odd struggled to fend off the advancing Nimue. Well, I want you two out. What!? Odd gasped, and Hacksaw uttered a yelp of surprise. Now now, don't get so upset. I want you to go chase again. Find a new female to bemoan, but don't do it here! With a curt nod, Tiberius left. Nimue made one final attempt at Odd before shouting Wanker!, and gliding off in a huff.
"Chase again? You know, that is a fabulous idea. Can't deprive the female population of my gorgeousness, now can we?" Odd groaned. "As a matter of fact, I have heard of a certain ravishing female... We can hope it isn't too late, no?" Hacksaw posed in a thoughtful manner before snatching Odd from the floor. The llithra squealed as Gao spread his wings with a trill. What the hell are you doing!? Where are you taking me! The mutt chuffed and trumpeted at the top of his high voice. We are going to the Ring of Fire mate, where an autumnal beauty waits! Tally ho! He trumpeted again, answered by the angry roars of dragons and riders attempting to sleep.
Hacksaw Gao was always the kind who loved to make an entrance. So when the purple-bronze arrived over the Ring of Fire, he was trilling, humming and bugling a song of unknown origins. He landed with a flair, one hind-leg thrown out in a point, forepaw swept to his chest and head bowed. Odd pulled free and lay panting on the ground. At last, we have arrived! There she is, bond o'mine, Tsukihikaruth. He nodded his head in the direction of an orangey-golden female, winking. She appeared not to notice, or was ignoring him in embarassment at his entrance. And don't worry Oddie, her rider is already involved. We won't have to provide a substitute in your stead. If you will excuse me, I must go let my intentions be known. Hey, baby! Yoo-hoo! Thankfully Hacksaw's advances weren't done aloud so that all could here, but the dragoness still pressed a paw to her face, mortified.
