...brown Foldelesth and blue gold-silver Abwynytta...

Darkling Dawn Ryslen Draco's Inferno Weyr

Foldelesth was giddy. This was a dangerous thing, when one posessed all the grace of a goose out of water. He didn't care, all that he cared about now was the fact that he was going to bond, he was going to find someone who would love him in spite of his... faults. So what if he hadn't won't his most recent obsession's flight? Even Helivath had lost, but that hadn't stopped the randy bronze. Why should it stop him? Anyway, his real reason for lingering was bonding. So he waited.

And waited...

And waited, for what seemed like an eternity to the pale brown (it was really only a month or two).

When the clutch finally did hatch, Foldel' was the first on the sands, followed by a line of ruffled and annoyed or frightened-looking novos, having just narrowly dodged the brown's hasty landing. There was another dragon standing to bond from this clutch, and the pair of them gravitated toward one another, if only because they were both dragons. As if the dragonets sensed the room full of anticipation, they snapped open as soon as the spectators stopped filtering in.

Foldelesth gasped. They're so beautiful! The red dragon next to him snorted and rolled his eyes. So what if he was easily impressed. One of those eggs could have hatched into a dripping slime monster and he still would have 'aww'-ed at it. He figited even more, shifting from paw to paw, weaving his head and opening and closing his wings. The eggs couldn't move fast enough for him, even when the clutch had just begun to hatch.

The third egg to split revealed a beautiful silver and gold-marked blue, who rose with an easy grace and shook the bits of shell and egg fluid that clung to his hide off. He approached Foldelesth and reared back to place both blue paws on the brown's muzzle. Foldel's eyes snapped forward, locking into the golden pair in front of him. I am Abwynytta. the dragonet said simply, backing away so Foldel' could un-cross his eyes for a better look.

At first Abwynytta seemed so confident, so sure of himself. He continued to gaze at the brown with his burning yellow eyes so full of assurance, then his expression changed to one of insecurity, and he cuddled up to the larger brown's foreleg. We'll be friends, right? Foldelesth couldn't help but smile toothily at the blue dragonet. Right. he replied, gently nudging Abby ahead of him and accidentally knocking him head over heels into the sand.

Oops! I'm so sorry, are you okay? He rushed to his bond's aid, but thought better of it and let him pull himself upright. No harm done, but I sure hope no one else saw that. Abby crept into the shadow of his bond and eyed the audience. Foldel' rumbled reassuringly, allowing someone else to feed his bond. He was sure Abby didn't want to wear that bowl as a hat.

Though it would have been nostalgic.
