The Chief of the Dixfield Police Department is a "Working Chief". As one of four full-time police officers, the Chief answers calls for service during his tour of duty.
By answering calls, the Chief makes it possible to provide 24-hour police presence in the town 365 days per year. A typical week of work involves meetings with the Town Manager and members of the community, payroll preparation, employee scheduling, normal patrol activities, criminal investigations, supervisory responsibilities and much more.
Chief Pickett makes it his practice to stop vehicles and enforce traffic law(s) on a regular basis. While his many administrative responsibilities put him in a position of assigning most criminal investigations that he begins, he does keep involved in ongoing investigations and provides assistance to other officers whenever possible. |
