The Dixfield Police Department periodically seeks out applicants to test for full-time Patrol Officer positions. Candidates must be highly motivated to serve the public safety needs of the citizens of Dixfield. Successful candidates promote and maintain positive police-community relations in the responsible performance of required duties. The Town of Dixfield offers a competitive starting salary and an attractive benefit package.

Candidates must be 21 years of age, be a high school graduate or possess a valid General Education Diploma (GED), possess a valid Maine driver's license and have completed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) Basic Police School or the 100-hour Pre-service Law Enforcement Training Program. MCJA certified police officers are preferred. Certifications in other states will be considered for transfer.

Since we embrace the philosophy of Community Policing, successful candidates must demonstrate a willingness to become active participants in the community if employed by the Department. Responsibilities of full-time Patrol Officers include patrol, traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, accident investigations, special police details and involvement in special programs designed to target public safety and/or crime prevention issues as well as other duties as assigned.

Applications sought for Reserve Patrol Officer (part-time) positions.


The Dixfield Police Department is seeking applicants for Reserve Patrol Officer positions. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have completed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program (100-hr Course) and possess a valid Maine driver's license (or equivalent).
