Chief Richard A. Pickett has been in Law Enforcement since 1976 when he joined the Maine State Police.  He was promoted to the rank of Detective for the State Police in 1983 and maintained that position until his retirement in 1998.

Richard became the Chief of Police for the Dixfield Police Department after his retirement from the State Police.

Richard is a Certified Hostage Negotiator and is a Deacon in his local church.

Jeff came to work for the Dixfield Police Department as a Reserve Patrol Officer in 1998 after beginning his law enforcement career as a Reserve Officer for the Town of Bethel, ME. In September 1999, Jeff was hired for a full-time position in Dixfield. In March 2000, he graduated from the 92nd Municipal-County Basic Police School at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.

Jeff has completed the MCJA Methods of Instruction Training Program. He is an MCJA certified training instructor. In addition, he has been certified by the MCJA as a Firearms Instructor. Other training programs completed include: Explosive Search and Identification; Police Officer Surival Tactics; Winning the DWI Crash Case; Incident Command System (I100) and several programs sponsored by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) of Glynco, VA.

Jeff is the Drug Enforcement Liaison Officer and is very active in promoting seatbelt safety to the area schools. Jeff's previous experience includes a period of assignment to a Bike Patrol Unit in Reno, Nevada.
Jeff is a happily married father of two boys. When he is not working, Jeff avidly pursues outdoor sporting activities.

Mark began his career in the field of Law Enforcement as a Corrections Officer at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn, ME in the fall of 1989. While in Corrections, he became certified as a Training Instructor by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) and made the rank of Sergeant, Director of Training for the Corrections Division of the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office. He took advantage of the opportunity offered by the MCJA to participate in the Basic Corrections training program as an instructor, teaching Stress Management most frequently.

In 1993, the Rumford Police Department hired Mark as a part-time police officer. After serving for three years in that position, he was hired to a full-time Patrol Officer position for that department in January 1996. He continued in that position until July of 1999. When leaving RPD, it was to fulfill a dream of success in the business world as co-proprietor with his wife of Island Books, a small, independent full-service bookstore located in the business district of Rumford.

In January 2000, the Town of Dixfield hired Mark to fill a full-time Patrol Officer position. Since that time he has been trained as a DARE Instructor and has been given the opportunity to serve in the capacity of a Community Policing liaison officer for the Dixfield Police Department and the Town of Dixfield.

Mark is happily married and is the father of five children. He attends the First Baptist Church of Mexico and is the Administrator of the River Valley Christian School, Inc. of Rumford, ME.
