Rates
My rates are discretionary and depend upon four main factors :
1) What you want me to do - a little limerick takes less time and effort that a 'proper' poem, a short article less time than a long one. The more time and effort it will take me, the higher the charge.
2) How much groundwork you have provided - if you have plotted your story or researched your article and you just want me to put it all together the charge will be lower than where you want me to do all the research.
3) Who you are - if you are a guy wanting a poem for his girlfriend, I will charge you less than a professional publisher. Similarly, small press magazines will be charged less than 'glossies' and small businesses less than big corporations. I will also consider concessions for charities or projects to which I am sympathetic on a case-by-case basis.
4) What rights you want from me - unless otherwise agreed, I am offering First Serial Rights for the nation of intended publication (with the agreement that it will not be offered elsewhere until after an agreed publication date has passed). If you want more rights or complete ownership of a piece that will cost more.
Please note that overseas rates might be higher unless paid in Pounds Sterling or US Dollar Bills due to conversion charges.

Disclaimer : A 'kill fee' of at least 10% (possibly more, depending upon individual projects) will be payable for any commission that is cancelled prior to completion. Full payment will be required for completed projects, even if they are not subsequently used.
All commissions must be agreed in writing before work begins.
