Trick # 8 Arppegios : Django based many of his solo ideas on arppegios. He also uses fast arppegio passages as an ornamentation as he displays here. (listen) |
Trick # 6 Artificial Harmonics : Artificial harmonics is a technique of playing harmonics by fretting the note you want to sound with your left hand and playing harmonics 12 frets up using ur index finger while picking the note with your pick held between your thumb and middle finger. (There are other variations but this is the most common one) It was first developed by classical guitarists and most recently associated with Chet Atkins and Lenny Breau. Django also displays this technique and plays whole passages with it, usually on slower numbers, as in this example. (listen) |

Trick # 10 Scale Patterns : While the harmony is static over one or two measures or more, Django throws in this types of fast scale runs by repeating a few notes from the scale. (listen) |
