Fae, the elf Keeper and guardian of Deborah's Forest, raises her arms high over her head. She closes her eyes in concentration, and begins to work the magic to open a gateway. With a few mermered words, the air before you begins to shimmers, as if heat is rising from the ground, distorting the image. Fae's words begin to grow louder, stronger. You strain your ears to catch their meaning, but the words of magic whisper past your ears, lost to you. As the magic increases, the air begins to melt, as if very hot. As it falls away, you can see a different place through the magic hole in the air.
You step through the magic gateway, Fae following you close behind. When you step into the new land, you breath in deeply, drinking in the sweet smelling air. You find yourself in a vast meadow. Tall, thick green grass covers the land as far as the eye can see. A soft, warm spring breeze gently blows the grass, creating waves along the emerald plains.
Amist the tall grass are many flowers of all kinds. It seems as if every shape, size, color, and type of flower are growing here amist the grass. In the center of the meadow, rest a large oak tree. It's branches are tall, but the lower ones look to be just the right hight for you to stand under. From the distance, you can see hundreads of mulitcolored sparkles glimmering amid the tree's branches and leaves. You wonder what could be making the tree's branches sparkle like that.
You are about to walk to the tree, when a hand on your arm stops you. You look over your sholder and see Fae. You had forgoten about her.
"This place is called the Spring Meadow. A young sorceress named May, lives here. She is the Keeper for a dragon from the land of Silver Valley. I am sure that May would be glad to show you around." The elf looks around the meadow and then turns back to you. "I'm sorry, but I guess that May is off doing something right now. I'm sure if you wait over by that tree that May will return soon." Fae turns around and walks back though the magical gateway that she had been holding open while she spoke to you.
As soon as she is all the way through the gateway, it cloese behind her, leaving you alone. You make your way slowly across the grass and flowers, twords the big tree. The warm spring breeze flutters your hair across your eyes. The meadow seems to be in the middle of spring, but the field you just came form seems to be in summer. It's as if when you crossed the gateway, you crossed seasons too.
When you reach the tree, you glance around, looking for the girl Fae had mentioned, May. When you don'lt see her you settle down, sitting with your back against the great oak. In the shade of the oak's boughs, it is much cooler than in the meadow.
Sunlight streams through the leaves. Some of the streams of light pass through those colored things, staining the light colors. The colored light dances across the ground before you, shimmering on your face. The motion of the light lulls you like a song. Your eyes drift shut on their own accord, and sleep claims your body and mind, and you
begin to dream...
