Dragon Otaku started off very (emphasis on very) simply in on January 8th, 2000 under the name "Kintara". The site was just an AOL Hometown site that was made with AOL's HotDog Express. It was a pityful attempt on my part to bring Dragons Dragonball Z and my own original strories together into a really awesome site. I was inspired by such sites as Paladine's Fortress, Saberfire.com, Planet Namek.com and Never Never Land (our very first affiliate). After a while of working on this site over and over and not even being able to use a counter or a guestbook with this, I grew weary of it and decided to leave the AOL Hometown for good. I soon found myself at Yahoo! Geo Cities, after finding the site that would later become the point of inspiration for my future site designs, the Dragon-Wolf anime gallery. In the beginings the design and content were almost exactly the sames as they were on AOL version of Kintara, with the same key points and everything. But soon I realized (or so I thought) that the new ideas that I had come up with were too much for me handle on my own (boy, was I stupid), and so I enlisted the help of two of my closest friends who were to be known as M'raq D'shim, and Raksha Simle. Later an old child hood friend named Zeyphr Kori would join the fold. And with this new found help, space and ideas; I found that Kintara was much too limited a name for my site, since it was derived from on of my stories. So I changed the site's name to Dragon Island and began anew. For months I went through about 4 similar designs, trying to find the right one, until I decided that I really can't stand working on this site any longer, it was going nowhere and I was getting disheartened at my "co-worker's" lack of effort, so I let Raksha leave and be free and it was just M'raq, Zeyphr and Myself to start Dragon Otaku Productions! I began the new design of Dragon Otaku Productions on June 11th 2000, and (at the time) I thought it to be my greatest accomplishment, I was so proud of work, that I tried to spread word out as far as I could. But eventually all things must come to and end and I grew tired of the current design but not the dream. After deciding to make a Gundam Wing site, I brought the site's name into it and made the Oz anime section. Which seemed to lead to more disbanding by Zeyphr, because he got caught up in other activites. Not too long after, I redesigned the site, based on the same basic premise but not the overly rectangular design, but more of a oval look. It took a long time, but I "finished" it and unveiled the new Dragon Otaku Productions to the world around September, 2000. For months I tried to make this site the best that I possibly could have made it, and I seemed to be doing good until I lost interest in it, many things in my life caused me to lose the faith. But in 2001 came the rebirth of "Dragon Otaku." Throught the entire year, the site was rarely updated with actual content, and the only real change was the continually changing color scheme and the intro graphic. Promises of updates were prevelant, but the promises were never kept. These were the signs of my lack of interest in the site. I was going to close it down and just delete the whole thing; but what good would come out of that? But with a stroke of genius, I came up with Project Mayhem. The site has actually been updated, with actual content. And it is a much more personal venue for my ideas. I hope you enjoy it, and take part in it as well. |
