Glance above. The uppermost part of the screen contains the most important elements of the site - the 'Top Bar'. It's split into 3 parts, each allocated their own frame. Of the three only the right-hand and central frames are important. The top left frame remains static at all times (it merely contains the site's logo), whereas the others change each time a new channel is chosen.

How to
Remotes

The channel you are currently viewing is no exception; pressing the 'home' channel button automatically reloads the main viewing screen as well as the top bar. Try it now and see what happens! Remember though - in order to resume the tutorial you must click the 'How to' link and then...well you should know the rest.
As you see, for the purposes of this guide, pressing this channel button whilst already viewing the home channel has very little effect; the top bar will still be reloaded - but that's all. To see any noticeable difference you must ideally choose a different channel from the one you're already viewing! Every channel's top bar is different, and the home top bar has much less functionality than the other 5 channels' - that's where the really groovy stuff kicks in!

First we'll examine the top right frame, prepare to hit the 'workbench' button again. When you first choose a new channel you'll see a new addition to the top bar; the 'Remote Control'. The best way to understand how this feature works is to offer a walk-through. Go now to the 'workbench':

! Click the Remote Control to reveal a drop-down menu. Find the word 'Labelmaker' and click once more - type something in the empty field and press 'Make Label'.

Congratulations you just made your first console graphics! You'll soon learn how to use such graphics in web pages. The Labelmaker utility is just one example of the many online tools featured at dctv. There are about 30 different such sites to be found at the workbench alone. And all in all, spread throughout the other 5 channels, there are over 100 different such webmaster sites!

They each differ greatly in their purpose - some are more interactive than others - but they all share the same benefits: each is web-based (essential for DC owners), each is completely free to use as often as you wish and each is 100% DC-friendly. It'd take all day (and probably all night!) if explanations were given to each site available via the 5 remote controls. The best way to investigate them is to do it yourself! Have fun....!!

OK. So you've created your first image - this could be used as a main heading on your site, as a 'button' to enter another part of the site or even to advertise your website! There's enough flexibility at the workbench to make any type of banner you like, different colours and sizes and even animated graphics. Now you need to actually get the bloody thing on your site!
