LIFE IS LIKE A MOUNTAIN CLIMB |

Life is like a mountain looming before us waiting to be conquered. We the aspiring conquerors begin the long arduous climb cautiously one step at a time confident that we will succeed. We reach plateaus along the way where our footing seems stable and secure and we proceed at a steady pace. Occasionally we stumble against the sharp angry crags which bar our paths, blindly groping to pick ourselves back up. Often we need assistance from our fellow climbers to guide us back to the right path. If we have been injured in the fall it may be necessary to retreat to the foothills recuperate, and begin anew. The ultimate glory is when we reach the pinnacle. Happiness, self esteem, and the wondrously satisfying sense of achievement, no matter how great or small, reigns supreme as we look back over the progress we have made. The downward trek can be just as difficult. We may be weary, Often feeling rejected or forgotten, perhaps no longer flexible enough in our thoughts or actions to bounce back or willingly accept the changing course. We may lack the energy to forge ahead with the resiliency we experienced as we started the upward trek. However, by taking one step at a time, slowly...carefully... We eventually near the end of our journey. Weary, but satisfied, we learn to accept the inevitable. The trek is coming to an end for us. It is then that we can relax, exult in our conquests, rejoice with the knowledge that the ascent and descent were not in vain for other climbers are waiting eagerly in the foothills to take up the long, exciting journey.
