Dream A Little Dream ...

07/04/02 -  So the big news is ... I’m moving. Where? I don’t know that yet. But I’m packing
up anyway. I’ve got some feelers out. May The Force be with me. I had planned
on making a move this year anyway, somewhere in town, same but different. I’m
actually excited, though I’m not looking forward to the muscle/labor part, makes
me tired just thinking about it. I need an out with the old, in with the new
experience. I’m ready, ready to get rid of the baggage, the physical baggage. As
far as the “emotional” baggage goes, I’ve been dealing with it. I’ve been working
on it for the last five years. Enough’s enough. You can only deal with it so much,
then you have to pack it up and send it to the unclaimed baggage depot and ...
fly without it.

So, step one, I’ve rented a dumpster. I’m planning to throw out about 75% of my
life, that old life. Lighten up. I mean that literally too. I figure after actively
decluttering and hauling load after load of junk to that dumpster, I could easily
lose 10 pounds. And with further looking at this in a positive manner, I see that
I’ve really gotten my money’s worth if you prorate it out. Most of my furniture is
over 20 years old, some is over 30. We’re not talking about antiques here, my
stuff is all hand-me-downs. I’m not moving that old stuff. I’ll take this opportunity
to replace it. Live with only what I need. I’ve been thinking about that big
comfortable chair for days now. The chair I’ve only imagined. Maybe it can finally
become a reality.

All I need is a room somewhere
Far away from the cold, night air
With one enormous chair
Now wouldn’t it be lovely ... -My Fair Lady

And, speaking about chairs ... I’ve discovered something called an Aeron chair.
It seems to be the “ultimate” in chairs for writers. It  sells for $599!!! Probably not
do-able for me, even as a goal achieving award. Then again,  I could check
around and maybe find me a bargain basement office chair for this computer.
That would be an asthetic improvement as well as a healthy investment. Yikes,
I’m sounding so practical! Better yet, for $599 I could do a couple of weekend
get-a-ways. Hmmm, how practical is that? Sounds practically wonderful to me.

Look at that, I’ve distracted myself ... day dreaming again. If I continue that, this
move is going to become more urgent than it already is. And then I’ll end up with
a sloppy job. No, I shall focus. Somehow I’m going to make time for my writing,
even if this journal becomes more of a moving log. Oh, I hope that doesn’t
happen. Maybe I should just change the title of this website to No More
Dreaming Until After The Move!
