Dream A Little Dream ...

07/10/03 - The time has come, the walrus said, to speak of many things ...

... love, loss, joy, sadness, endings, beginnings - where do I begin? I have been on a mind trip which should not be confused with a vacation. There is more than one way to take a trip, you know?

The above painting is very dear to me. In a way, it is me. That lean on the elbow says a lot. For one thing, I am currently suffering with a sore arm. The route of the problem seems to be in the elbow. I went to the doctor's yesterday where I received a booklet called "The Elbow Owner's Manual" and a prescription for anti-inflammatory drugs. It's nothing serious, will get better with time. The lean also provokes a sort of exhaustion, more mental than physical I'm afraid. I've been on that emotional roller coaster ride one has heard about. I don't regret a moment of it. It was my choice. Though getting off the ride became a possibility many times, it never appeared to be the solution. I finally just tightened the seat belt. The ride has become smoother with time. The lean also signifys the dreamer in me. It's never left me, that dream. I have stopped trying to encourage others to have it. That's an impossible task and not the point at all. It's my dream. However, if you care to take the time to explore me, you will see I am sincere. It's a dream worth sharing. The dream will become clearer with time. (The painting is by a dear friend of mine, Linda Ryan. The card on the back was addressed ... To Cathy. That's what I've chosen to name it.)
