Dream A Little Dream ...

10/06/02 -  Our house, is a very, very, very fine house ... It’s not really ours, and it’s tiny
besides, but ... It’s still fine, very fine. I’ve improved. Well, I’ve made some
improvements which make me, myself, feel improved too. The improvements are
small and gradual, but week by week, inch by inch ... we’re getting somewhere.
An old saying that I’ve always kept in my mind is that if you look good, you feel
good and you do good. It’s all about improvement, I guess. I’m not so much
talking about bigger and better. But, there’s nothing wrong with better, better for
you. See, I’m not opposed to improvement, self-improvement. But, it’s a different
thing when you feel someone may be trying to change you. I’ve had that before,
and it’s something that not only makes me uncomfortable, but I can’t even
tolerate it at all. My body just shuts down. I’m not changing this very fine house,
I’m improving it. I like the way it is. I chose it for it’s features. I don’t want to
change anything about it, just make a few improvements here and there.

I redecorated the bathroom this weekend. First of all, it’s a bit of a strech for the
three of us to have one bathroom to share. And, it’s not me that causes any
problems there. The Kid is the fashion plate, and spends more time than I do in
that room. The room itself is about 2 x 2, well, maybe a bit bigger. My
redecorating consisted of installing a new shower curtain, putting down a
bathroom rug and hanging a couple of new towels. Voila! Today, I enhanced the
front yard. Well, it’s hardly visible enhancement. But I know what I did and I feel
much better for it. The planting areas are decluttered and I now have a small
gardenia plant under my bedroom window. It was quite warm today, 90 degrees.
Probably not the best weather for yard work, but I enjoyed myself and took
plenty of breaks.

This evening I enjoyed a little relaxation in my campground. That’s what I call the
niche I found for my picnic table. I don’t have a backyard here. I have a back
door, but it opens onto the neighbors dirt driveway. Well, right against the side of
my house is a little niche between two large trees. It’s shaded. It’s perfect. I went
out this evening and read the newspaper there, peacefully.
