12/12/02 - I’m doing those never get a chance to’s … during this vacation. For example, on Sunday evening I went to the mall. That probably doesn’t sound all that extraordinary, except, I rarely go to the Mall and I’m rarely out and about on a Sunday evening … I never get a chance to. I usually spend Sunday evening resting up to go to work. I don’t like shopping much. However, "doing" the mall at this time of year is quite an entertaining event. The Santa Display was really beautiful, especially when looking down on it from the second floor. It was a sort of African Oasis theme with lions, tigers, zebras and giraffes … something different. Santa was there having his picture taken with the kiddies, at least I think it was Santa. There was something weird about this Santa’s beard. It was his own (not fake) and, to my liking, it was pretty sparse. I want my Santa to have a big fluffy white beard, even if it has to be fake. Those that know me know I like hair, the more the better. The highlight of the night was hanging out at J.C. Penny’s cosmetic counter and playing around with all the perfumes … another never get a chance to. Then there was Costco on a Monday, a Monday early afternoon, in fact. Again we got a holiday aura there and, it was probably more crowded than a normal Monday would be. Still, it was quite different to be around all the this year’s gotta haves. Better yet, was knowing I don’t gotta have any of it, just the experience. And how often do you have a chance to attend a Monday night violin concert? Did that too. And on top of that, I was accompanied to the concert. Never had a chance for that before. Tuesday’s never do’s included writing away from home at Starbucks. I don’t buy coffee out much. I don’t get out much during normal hours. So, I planned the Starbucks outing all the while knowing I would be somewhat intimidated ordering the actual coffee … too many choices. It wasn’t a problem. It’s holiday time. I tried the Gingerbread Latte … yummy. What was funny to me was sitting in the Starbucks observing the day time crowd, wondering what all those people were doing out during the week day while I’m usually sleeping. And, then thinking about what they’d observe if they were out and about in the middle of the night seeing a variety of other lifestyles in action. I never get a chance to do this kind of observing. Tuesday’s highlight was a lunch out (another never get a chance to) with Lady D and Little Lord T. With lunch, a daytime glass of wine (unheard of)! It was such fun to be sharing girl time with My Lady D, and Little T was so cooperative and well behaved … totally delightful! This is becoming an exactly what I wanted vacation, much thanks to Dr. Jones and Lady D. And, it’s not over yet … |
