This model was being built when I got an invitation for world travel from President Johnson in 1965, and was never finished. I am rebuilding it based on a old photo of the original. So as of July 2005 I've had this project for 40 years.

After getting the 53 Starliner and 63 Avanti off EBay the kits were cut and puttied back together. The front and rear are from the 63 Avanti and the windshield, roof and full sides are from the 53 Starliner. I made a "V" cut down the middle of the roof to narrow it toward the rear to fit the back-light. I made custom trunk from extra roof from the 53 Double Whammy.  I opened the doors because the hood and trunk were already done so it made sense.  I channeled the body and sectioned the interior 2 inches. I've gotten photos off Ebay of the door jams, hinges and inside the trunk lid to make them right. I'm planning on yellow paint with the
red Hawaiian floral theme for the rally stripe and interior.
These are the original Polaroids of the Avanti built in 1964. Recently found rear photo.
The two kits for your comparison.
Here's the new version done in the current grey plastic. This is my favorite part of modeling, the hacking!
