THE SQUIRREL

Have you ever really watched a squirrel on a typical day. They are amazing critters. And such fun to relate with. These little guys are very sociable. It isn't uncommon to even be able to feed them by hand.

They have a multitude of qualities to teach us. But first you must take the time to just observe them. You will catch them being busy little beavers, hunting for nuts, eating a few, storing the others. Then all of a sudden the mood will change and off they go, chasing each other. Is this where the old saying "All work and no play....." came from?

They also talk to each other by chattering, and lots of tail movement. By seeing how easily they intertwine work and play, we should easily see that it is important to add this to our daily routine. The gathering of nuts is a very serious chore indeed. After all, that is their very survival.

Now from this we can learn to balance ourselves in the wholeness of harvest and giving. A happy blend of work and play will provide a more fruitful harvest. It sometimes seems they have boundless energy and are going to and fro without a purpose. But if you actually watch, you will notice the concise planning of their day. Yes, they are masters of being prepared. The whole summer is used to plan for the winter. They will teach us how to organize, play and be prepared all at the same time. Also, you can learn how to communicate. How to express yourselves easier. These fine furry animals are imitators. This says to you that the way to learn best is by doing rather than studying.
