HOMEWORK

Work assigned and not completed during the day is to be taken home and brought back the next day completed. It is due at class time.

Assignments will be lighter on weekends and holidays.

Papers are checked daily and returned to the student on Friday to be taken home. Work not turned in or completed on time will be late and is worth one half point.

Standing Nightly Homework Assignments (students should spend approximately 1/2 hour nightly working on homework):
1. Read to parents for at least 20 minutes.
2. Learn the books of the Bible from memory
3. Memorize the mulitplication functions from 1 to 10 and be able to reproduce the answers in less than 5 minutes.

I will record daily assignments on the daily assignment sheet and give each child their copy to take home. The student is to mark off completed work and to complete any unfinished assigments at home. We ask the parents to check this sheet daily and make sure the work is completed for the following day and your child is ready for all their classes.
I will post the assignment sheet daily on EDLINE.

Late work is the biggest headache to the student, parents and teacher. Students will lose privileges, playtime, and might be held after school if the problem persists. Late work lowers grades.

The closer the parents and teacher work together the more successful will be the educational journey of our students. Please contact me if you have any suggestions, ideas, or concerns.

GRADING

All work is based on a point system. The total points of a subject make up the grade and is broken down as follows:

100%-90% = A
89%-80% = B
79%-70% = C
69%-60% = D
59% = F

Grades are issued mid-term and at the end of the quarter. Yearly grades are based on a average of the 4 quarter grades.

When a student is absent, one day is given for each day absent to make up the work. Usually a student's grade falls because of missing or late work. A daily check of the assignment sheet will avoid late or missing work.

The music and PE departments give their own grades to our students at the end of each quarter. Usually they use the system of "P or F" grading (pass or fail).

An attendance grade is given at the end of the quarter by the school registrar. Please look in the school bulletin for our attendance policy. Being late to school on a regular basis is not acceptable and will effect the student's grades. When a student comes to school late on a regular basis, they miss the beginning of each day, which includes morning worship, daily orientation and announcements, and part of their Bible class.

I will give our students a grade for responsibility. This grade is based on the discipline system of our room. Added to it will be behavior at recess and PE class. If there is a habitual late schoolwork points, the grade will also be affected. The school office also give a citizenship grade.

EDLINE.COM

The school office will give you your child's online grade code. Midterm and quarterly grades are posted online.
