"The Lady deWinter is but a simple, colorless, two-dimensional shadow of our little Juliana." - Gavin Merrick

Welcome to Juliana's Homepage

I was invited into Ill Met in Amber by the GM, via a reference from a friend of mine. Said friend handed me the stack of books the game was largely based on, knowing good and well I'd want a feeling for the genre.

Reading right through The Phoenix Guards and 500 Years After by Stephen Brust and all the Lankhmar books by Fritz Leiber, combined with my basic knowledge of the swash-buckling genre, I felt well prepared to start working out a character with a rather developed history for the game.

Confession: I have not read any Dumas. It is a hole in my education, and one I am determined to plug this year ~ and currently working on it!!!

Thus armed, I decided to stretch a little. I generally play good girls. They might later go bad, but they always start out as good girls. Juliana, I decided, was born bad, and the environment and circumstances of her life just made things worse.

I'm not going to give away all Juliana's secrets right up front - they can come out in the course of her diaries and the game. But Juliana is a bad girl trying to be good. She's trying hard, because she has found something worth trying for. I'm hoping Juliana's story turns out to be about redemption, although it is bound to be tragic.

I also wanted to add, everyone in this game has helped with world-building, and the effort has been vast. You can see some of the results of this on the Dramatis Personae page, but it's more obvious in game, how much character background building, and story building and... well, you'd then see. It's an impressive group, and I'm proud to play this game with them. Kudos to the GM, for being able to juggle it all.
