We're a small hobby kennel located in the boondocks of rural northeast Iowa, where winters are cold and summers are sticky hot.
The Internal Revenue Service defines a HOBBY as "an activity engaged in without a true profit motive." BOY! Do we fit that definition!
Duckee's Grove will probably NEVER show a profit, because our first concern is the furkids.
Since our five children are all raised and doing wonderfully, our shelties take special precendence in our lives. They live with us in the house, some sleep in the bedroom with us, and we never leave the homestead without one or two in the van.
Currently we are showing only in conformation, but I hope to get into obedience and agility in the next year. Our breedings are very limited....only one or two very select quality breedings a year...mostly for our own ring use. No incoming bitches will be bred without full health and genetic testing, and then, only if their temperments are excellent.
Pet Quality puppies do occasionally occur. Oversized or undersized, an ear that is stubborn, or a tail that is too short....ALL are sold on a spay/neuter contract. (NO EXCEPTIONS !) Our first priority is the presentation and preservation of this fantastic breed....OBVIOUSLY we think it's the best!
