>Dear Wilson:

I have to be "franche". Let us not exagerate the conditions. You and I know

that they were poor admit it. The conditions at Mt. St-Pierre were not

good. On a scale of one to 10 they were 3 and borderline dangerous and only 3

because you could sometimes take off and it was sunny. There were many near

accidents, take-offs were difficult for paragliders and I saw one go almost

into a tree. By all coming many pilots lack enough self-control and will

take off in the marginal conditions that were present.

I understand your position as wanting to promote flying, we all do, especially

in your town. I also see it in your best interest that many people come

(more money to maintain the roads that primarily you and your club-local

pilots- use) but considering the drive distance from Montreal I was

dissappointed. I have had much better flying conditions at Yamaska (better

than MSA) including a 3-hour flight today (where I got to a modest 3,000 feet

ASL (au dessous de niveau du mer) (I had to get the lack of flying at Yamaska

out of the system).

Nonetheless, I think a better strategy on your part would to concede that it

sucked for flying and then we would come back knowing that it had sucked.

Trying to say it was good when it wasn't may soothe some souls of pilots who

don't know what good really is (like the tandem passengers) but honesty will

bring us back knowing that it gets much better.

Finally, Gaspe is beautiful and worthwhile just for the highway views along

the St. Lawrence or climbing Mt. Jacques-Cartier.

Vraiment impressionant!
