The Reindeer's Revenge - Part 1
Blitzen quietly crept into the kitchen. He was going there for a top-secret reindeer meeting called by Dasher. When he arrived he saw the other seven reindeer. Rudolf was not there. "Hey, Blitzen," Cupid whispered, "Why are you so late? The meeting started fifteen minutes ago."
"Sorry, but my bunk is right next to Rudolf's." he replied, "So I had to be extra careful not to wake him."
"Why don't we want Rudolf in on this?" Vixen asked.
"Because," Dasher explained, "You know how Rudy is. He's Santa's favorite. If he knew about this he would tell Santa right away. I thought we went over this."
"Rudolf wouldn't do that!" argued Vixen.
"We can't take that risk. He can't be trusted." said Blitzen, "Now on with the meeting. What did I miss?"
"Not much." answered Comet, "We're still tossing around ideas of how to get rid of Santa. Dancer thinks we should just ambush him, but I don't agree."
"Why not?" Dancer said angrily, "It's a great idea. See, we need to keep this simple. The more complicated our plan is, the greater chance it has of failing. We should just attack him and get the job done with."
"No," Cupid responded, "Like I said before, we have to watch out for those elves. they may be small, but there's power in numbers. Many of them support Santa and would defend him."
"Right. Now, we must plan this carefully. We have been under this tyrant's rule for way too long. It is time to break free, and fly where we want to and do what we want to." Dasher said, "I say that poison is the best way. It takes care of him cleanly, and Dancer says he knows a guy on the outside that can get us some real strong poison."
"That's right," Dancer interrupted, "An arctic squirrel friend of mine, he'll do it. He knows all about the plants that grow up here and he told me that he once killed a moose by putting a few drops of a drug in a stream that it drank from."
"Well," Dasher continued, "See if you can get some. The problem is, how will we get it on his food?'
They discussed a few of their ideas. Their obstacle was the kitchen elves. They believed that their meals were masterpieces, and wouldn't let anyone near them until the food was done. Also , Santa Claus ate at a separate table from the reindeer, making it even more difficult. They finally decided on a plan that they hoped would work. Donner would distract the elves while Comet poisons the food. Then, Prancer would tell Rudolf and all the elves that Santa just announced an emergency, mandatory meeting in the Assembly Hall immediately. They would then lock the doors and keep the elves captive for a while. After that, Dasher would serve the food to Santa and Mrs. Claus, telling them that the elves were to busy working to eat lunch. Once Santa was out of the way, the reindeer planned to celebrate now that they were free.
All was going according to plan. The poison arrived on time, three weeks before the attack. Nobody suspected anything. Then, just a little more than two weeks before the strike, some of the reindeers began to have doubts. It started with Vixen. He started saying at a meeting that maybe they should give the old guy another chance. If they had to do something, Vixen believed that they should protest verbally, and stay away from violence. After hearing his argument, Comet and Cupid agreed. Things were not going well anymore. They even threatened to tell Rudolf our Santa. From that point on, Dasher didn't tell Vixen, Cupid, or Comet where or when the meetings were. He lied and told them that he thought they were right. Dasher told them that they weren't going to go through with their plans after all.
Then the big day came, the day when the reindeer were going to carry out their plans. Cupid, Vixen, and Comet kept an eye on the other reindeer, but they did not believe that anything was going to happen.  Vixen was hanging around the kitchens, and Comet made sure nothing happened to Santa. They were careful, but while Vixen was in the bathroom, Donner placed a heavy chair in front of the door. Blitzen then spilled a bottle of ketchup in the dinning room. He ran to get the elves to clean up the mess and refill the bottle. While the two kitchen elves were cleaning it up, Prancer slipped a little bit of poison in Santa's prime rib dinner. Then he "accidentally" knocked a glass off the table. While the elves were cursing the clumsy reindeer and sweeping up the glass, Blitzen poured some poison in Santa's milk.
