Duran are invited to be the headlining act both nights at LA radio station KROQ's popular annual two-day Acoustic Christmas festival

Duran hires drummer Fergus Gerrand, backing vocalist Lamya, and a three-piece string section. Warren arranges new string parts in ten days while John plays stand-up bass

Sep 1 Duran Duran: Ahoy, Rotterdam, Holland After a strained version of “Too Much Information”, this concert is interrupted when Simon loses his voice in the middle of the second song, (“Hungry”). After a fast backstage conference, the band returns without Simon. Backup singer Lamya performs four more songs . Attendant people receive a free pair of Levi's jeans (from the show's sponsor) and a promise that the band will come back to complete the show at a later date. The promise is still unfulfilled. Audio bootlegged.

On Sep 4th “Too Much Information” single peaks at #35 in UK, and at #45 in US

Simon is diagnosed with swollen vocal cords. Consequently the remaining three weeks of “The Dilate Your Mind Tour” in the UK is cancelled. They were due to perform in Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Brighton and Bournemouth
