Toine's
Polymer Clay Projects
Make
earrings with tiny aspic cutters or shape a bangle by rolling out clay
and draping it around a glass of the correct size. Achieve a metallic
effect by dusting your creations with Pearl-Ex powders prior to baking.
Apply Future floor polish or your favorite finish. |
Aspic
cutter bracelet. Roll out polymer clay to a thickness of 1/4". Cut crescent
shapes. Pierce holes before baking. String on elastic with small beads.
In this bracelet the colors yellow, blue, and magenta came right from the
package (Premo) and the green purple, and red were achieved by mixing equal
amounts of blue and green, blue and magenta, and yellow and magenta.
You could also make a bracelet with all the different colors of clay that
you have or mixed in certain proportions. Now you can wear your color
chart! |
Use
clover shaped hole of clay extruder. Twist the "rope," and dust with metallic
powder. Form around cylinder, making sure that the two ends are well connected,
smooth, bake, and protect with your favorite finish. Use Sculpey Premo
or another strong clay such as SculpeyFlex, which has the bonus of giving
the bangles flexibility! |
Make
your own fantasy gems or imitate real gems. These cabochons were shaped
by hand, but you can also make molds from existing cabochons. Use tiny
seed beads to make bezels around these cabs to make interesting pendants
or pins. |
Rings
made from brass wire and polymer clay "stones" Give the "stones" flat bottoms
and either eliminate the holes or make one, two, or three holes and place
them low. |
Cut
two bottoms using cookie cutter. Make one slightly smaller and place on
top of first one. Bake. Cut strip of clay long enough to go around. Affix
sides and bake again. Use baked box as stamp to cut first shape. Use cookie
cutter to cut second one. Place first shape on second one. Lid should now
be a tight fit. Test, adjust before baking. Bake. Finish with Future. Needless
to say, this box could be made to look like metal or embellished with flowers
or canes... anything. I would recommend using Premo or Fimo for durability. |
