7-0 after weekend Triad Saturday, December 22, 2001 Duxbury participated in a two non-league dual matches with Walpole and Canton Saturday and extended their overall dual record to 7-0. The Dragons gave almost no ground at all in a one-sided match against Walpole. The Dragons dominated this match 61-7. Wrestling started with the 189 pound class. Elmo Roberts(189) started the match for the Dragons with a 7-2 decision. Anthony Binsfield(215) followed with a first round pin. David Spolidoro(103) took a forfeit for the Dragons followed by three pins in row from Jeff Byron(112), Ian McConnaughey(119), and Greg Woods(125). Scott McConnaughey took a forfeit at 130 pounds and Kyle McCarthy(135) won his bout with a 9-0 decision. Scott Klebanoff(140) then pinned his opponent in just under a minute. Doug Imbrogna(145) never gave up and fended off several very tough pinning combinations to hold his opponent to a major decision. At 152 pounds Duxbury did not take a forfeit and there was no contest. Josh Caldwell(160) lost by a 5-1 decision that was closer than the final score implies. Matt Lanuto(171) finished the match for Duxbury with a first round pin making the final score 61-7. The second match of the day, against Canton, got off to a rocky start for the Dragons with Elmo Roberts(189) getting caught in a head and arm throw and pinned in the first round. Anthony Binsfield(215) came back with a pin for Duxbury, followed by another pin by Kris Burgos(275). Sophomore Adam Johnson(103) lost a close 3-2 decision, making the team score 12-9 in Duxbury's favor. Jeff Byron(112) then started a series of pins for Duxbury, followed by Ian McConnaughey(119) and Greg Woods(125). Kyle McCarthy(130) won his match by technical fall 15-0 in the third round, and Scott Klebanoff won a 6-2 decision to make the team score 38-9. Topher Bell(140) lost by pin in the last minute of a tough match and the team score was 38-15. Doug Imbrogna(145) held off a number of pinning combinations attempted by Mike Brown of Canton and held Canton to only 4 team points. This was the determining bout of the match. At this point the score was 38-19 and Canton could not win the match, the only thing in question was the final score. Sophomore Steve Celino(152) lost by fall in the second round. Josh Caldwell(160) won with a first round pin followed by a second round pin from Matt Lanuto at 171 pounds. The final score was 50-25 for Duxbury. Duxbury's Junior varsity wrestlers showed their abilities by winning 10 of eleven bouts against Canton and Walpole with nine of the ten wins by pin. Ryan Roberts won a 4-0 decision against a Canton opponent. Scott McConnaughey, Tom Protasewich, Jimmy Boynes, Don Perry, Ryan Mullin, Pat Gram, and Eric Sheridan all scored wins by pin.
