| Earlier this month, it was announced on MTV.com that shakira will be presenting at the 2004 Video Music Awards. The official website had this to add: "Look for Shakira to appear on MTV's 2004 Video Music Awards broadcast Live from Miami this Sunday 8/29 at 8:00 PM! She will introduce the show's rock performance (featuring Jet, Hoobastank, Yellowcard) in the first hour of the show. Check your local listings!" Hopefully she'll give us a lot more details (which are very minimal at the moment, which is very frustrating) on her upcoming album. |

| As several sources report, Shakira's manager for Latin America, Patricia Tellez has passed away from a heart attack in Bogota, Colombia. She was 47. Shakira had attended the funeral. Check out Shakiramedia.com for more info, links, pictures and videos. |

| Rumors of Depression |
| There had been rumors circulating that Shakira is suffering from a profound depression following Patricia's death. And this would preventing her from working on her album. But, hello?!, where's the common sense. Shakira is mourning, not falling in depression!! If she needs time off after the death of her manager and, most likely a great friend, people shouldn't start making up reasons for it. To be diagnosed with major depression, you have to be unable to do your "necesary" work for at least 6 months. And of she's mourning a death, this practically cancels the diagnosis. | At the VMALAs, a reporter from Escalando TV was able to ask Shakira a few questions about her upcoming album. Shaki said there are two albums coming out in early 2005, one in spanish and one english. She has made 60 songs and is currently in the process of choosing which ones are making the cut. When asked what the new albums will bring, she said, "lots of surprises". Shakira hopes to have the lot of it finished in December... her "Christmas wish". The reporter also commented on her look and how it looked great on her. Shakira said she was tired with the same face, so she changed her appearence... she says she did "la china", <room for interpretation>. Shakira also said she was excited about having things done so she can go back on the road. The reporter asked about Antonio. Shakira said he was around there (at the VMALA) and mentionned he had a haircut... not sure if this was an attempt of the reporter to grab gossip. For a full transcript, visit ShakiraMedia. | Shakira.com has been FINALLY updated! The first thing you see as you enter is a letter she has written to her fans. She talks a bit about her album, but it's news we already know about. But it's still Shakira writting, which gives it an official ring to it. The design has changed and it says that there is a new website in the works for 2005! If you look in the video section, you can see a video where she talks a bit about the album during an interview backstage at this year's VMAs. | Shakira will be 28 on Groundhog's Day, February 2nd. As for album updates, the latest rumors have a single coming out in late February with the album coming out sometime in mid to late march.... I'll give updates as soon as they come. Also, Billboard.com had an article saying that Shakira has collaborated with Alejandro Sanz for the album. Stay tuned for other updates :-) |

| Shakira's new single is scheduled to be out this monday on the radio!!! The song is called La Tortura. The single is a collaboration with the very popular spanish artist Alejandro Sanz. It has a dinstinctive raggaetton feel to it. The lyrics go back to what made Shakira very popular. The video is supposed to come a little more than a week after. The album, called Fijacion Oral 1 is going to come out June 7th. Amazon.com has it available for pre-order. It says that theyll have it available for May 31st... this might change of course. This album is part one of the project which contains song only in spanish. Part two, Oral Fixation 2, will contain the english songs that came out of the project. That part is scheduled for a November release, on time for Christmas!! Some fan sites already have radio rips of the song in moderate quality. One of those is ShakiraMedia.com. Trust me, this single is HOT!!! I'll keep you guys and girls posted with anything new and hopefully I'll be able to translate that new song. | Official News: The people at Shakira.com have been very busy giving lots of updates, here's a rundown: Fijacion Oral will be out June 6th internationally and on June 7th in the USA (and possibly Canada, but that is still to be confirmed). The new single is now playing on the radio and debuted at number 11 on its first week of release and climbed to number 7 on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks and debuted this week at number 98 on the Hot 100 singles chart. The single is available through iTunes and peaked at number 10 on their Pop chart and has remained stable in the top 25. The video for the La Tortura has been released and premiered on several MTV outlets including MTV USA. They also showed the Making of La Tortura and was the first episode to be aired entirely in spanish. The video was also shown on TRL, so don't forget to vote!!!!!. It can be dowload on several fansites (Shakiraisabel.com, Shakiramedia.com) and can be streamed on MTV.com. It was directed by Michael Haussman. The fansites contain a clean and uncensored version. The only difference is the uncensored version shows Alejandro grabbing the blade of the knife Shakira is holding when he sneaks up behind her in the kitchen. The video incorporates African dance moves which Shakira explains as being instinctive. There is also use of black paint and you can clearly see that they purposly use dark, grey and neutral colors through the video. I won't give too many details in case some of you haven't seen it yet. It is causing quite a stir in the message boards. Unofficial: Some fansites have posted lyrics of songs that are suppose to be on the album. There is also an official tracklisting lurking around message boards. There is also rumor that the video for the second single rumored to be Pura intuicion was already shot.
