What's Happening?
Words To Live By...
Anyway
People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered...
...Love them anyway
If you do good, people will accuse you of ulterior motives...
...Do good anyway
If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies...
...Succeed anyway
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow...
...Do good anyway
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable...
...Be honest and frank anyway
People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs...
...Fight for some underdogs anyway
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight...
...Build anyway
People really need help but may attack you if you help them...
...Help people anyway
Give the world the best you have and it'll kick you in the teeth...
...Give the world your best anyway

4/7/08 - OMG What a weekend!  It started off innocently enough on Friday.  Dinner with the Maguires and the Giordanos.  No biggie right?  Wrong!  I got hammered!  Haven't been that drunk in quite some time. I drank almost a full pitcher of Sangria by myself!  Everyone else drank Margaritas.  Highlights of the evening were singing I Need a One Ton Tomato (Guantanamera) with the Mariachi Band, speaking Spanish with our waitress, during which I translated "Why would a girl with blonde hair dye her roots brown" for Jimmy (he was referring to Margaret and calling Cathy and John after dinner to find out why they were "going the wrong way"  I thought we were west of their house but we were in Seaford!  Duh!   Oh and did I mention that Jimmy and I were home by 11:00????!!!!!  By the way, Jimmy is banned from drinking Margaritas.

Surprisingly, I felt ok on Saturday which was a good thing since we had the Michael Cawley benefit to attend. It was a great turn out.  It is the most fun benefit ever!  I've never seen so many donated prizes.  I came home with a $45 Outback gift certificate and a $40 Vincent's Clam Bar gift certificate which I bartered for...I originally one a gift certificate for the Sly Fox near Queens College and St. Johns for those of you who have never been...I myself haven't been there since 1985 or so and I had no intention of going back so thanks to one of the friendly fireman that were working the benefit - Scotty - I was able to do the old switcheroo!   I also bid and won a laundry basket from Arthur Avenue filled with dried sausages, cheeses, and 11 lbs of different pastas and tons of other delicacies that made my mouth water.  I just couldn't resist!   and the answer is YES I dove right into it as soon as I got home.  Michael's mom (Aunt Marge) made 65 POUNDS of Swedish meatballs alone!   She does most of the cooking for it and it is all delicious.   The Woodside Girls were strong in numbers hanging tough, MaryAnn even took the ride in.  I think a good time was had by all and look forward to the next one. It was a fairly early night for the Waughs.  Jim and some of his biker buds stopped in at the benefit for a little while but had a motorcycle club meeting - GUNFIGHTERS - VROOM! so they split early.  It was funny, I was struggling pulling the giant basket out of the car, Jimmy pulled up right behind me. That was about 9:00.  Oh I took some video at the benefit, but you'll have to wait for that I want to try to combine them together in a movie.  Just call me Cecile B. D. Waugh!

We finally ordered our stove on Sunday.  For those of you who I haven't spoken with in a while, we are renovating our kitchen real soon.  I ordered a new stove from the Elmira Stove Company that looks antique the picture is below but I ordered it in Liberty Blue.  I am very excited and can't wait to start cooking!  We ordered the stove from Two Guys  in Lake Grove and then headed over to Lisa and Lesley's for Stephanie's Communion using the GPS system.  Lisa and Lesley's street wasn't in it we realized that instead of Bruce Drive, the system brought up Bruce Place...which is in Setauket not East Setauket...good thing we kind of knew where we were...it got us to Nichols Road but my stubborn husband wouldn't listen to me when I told him that the turn was ON Hawkins Path (which we were already on), so of course we rode from there to 25A because I couldn't be right!  One U-Turn and 10 minutes later we finally made it.

Once we got there,  we had a really good time there. As always, Lisa was hostess extraordinaire.  She had these little bendy straw stirrers they were so cool so I asked where she got them and she told me that she cut down regular straws...how clever!  And the food was out of this world too!  The kids had a bouncy castle and were going crazy out in the yard, we barely saw them.  The funniest thing was that Steph actually made her Communion on Saturday and she was running around with the kids all day.  Lisa wanted her to put on her dress so she could take pictures with the cake.  She was crying "Why can't I wear my own clothes"?  We coaxed her upstairs and I gave her a quick updo and she was all happy for a few minutes pictures were taken and then such a face!  and "Why can't I wear my own clothes?"  Too cute. I took some video but you'll have to wait for that too.
