As one enters the old amusement park, one notices the run down condition of the various rides, and the faded wooden buildings of the Fair Way that one is immediately surrounded by. The Ferris Wheel seems to dominate the center, no doubt it was the first and oldest ride, it’s also wired off in rusty metal at its base. Some lettering on it denotes it once had a name, but it’s incomprehensible what it was. Most of the paint is gone off it, and it’s obvious its engine is rusted shut.

As those with enchanted sight enter the Freehold grounds, the glorious Fairy's Wheel still spins, the source of the balefire, it is alive with azure flame. As it turns it casts great loops of glamour over the Park, like crashing waves of energy. The fae seeming of the buildings seem to flare slightly as it engulfs them, then fade back to their usual soft glow.

In the Fair way itself, surprisingly, some locals must have made an attempt to keep things from decaying utterly. Carnival style games still abound, including a Ring Toss, a fortune telling machine, a duck shoot/baseball throwing booth and more. Some faded posters litter the place. Signs of recent use, cigarette butts, or the odd snack bag show that the rumor of Teens or college kids slipping in must be somewhat true. You might even stumble onto a person…

The main area of the Freehold, the Fair way is the least glamorous part, or so it seems, signs of mortal incursion maybe the cause of this. Still, the seeming of the games of chance and skill are as if new. Chimerical ducks quack angrily as you bean them, but seem none the worse for wear. The rings glow as they fall on bell chiming bottles. The fortune-telling machine gazes on serenely. Those posters’ words shift and to the Enchanted eye, are clearly official rules. If one can stumble onto a mortal, one can at least rest easy noticing the glow of enchantment is particularly visible, so at least one can tell when it’s safe to talk of some matters.

To the Northwest portion of Ardent Harbor, a great Wooden Roller Coaster looks both over park and rocky shoreline. Faded white tracks and railing, with once red, but now dun colored coaster cars. One may even hear the occasional clattering of its operation. The rusted chain is truly no obstacle to the ride. It hardly looks safe though. And a sign marked ‘Condemned: Do not enter’ is on display.

The tracks have turned silver, the coaster cars golden. When in use, they often start out full, and return empty, or empty, and return with a passenger. To any one familiar with them, these are obviously trods!

The Southeast, close to the entrance, has a Carousel, which obviously still works. Broken stallions, and weatherworn mares trot in front of benches. The music as it moves is jerky, and sometimes grinding.

Proud Chimerical steeds prance, almost straining in their ring. Somehow they are able to sink into their ‘mortal’ seemings of wood to protect themselves, or heal, but they occasionally slip out to gallop about the park like young colts at play.

In other parts of the park, one can see a Flying Dutchman ride, nothing special, faded and old. Not too far from it, a Hall of Mirrors seems to beckon, and one can enjoy its goofy distortions and multiple reflections…sadly some vandals have broken some of the mirrors.

Much to Irene's confusion, and Jude's delight, the "Dutchman" is working in ways never expected. Not only does it seem to act as a trod of sorts with other far off lands, it appears to be seaworthy, and set to be launched off shore once it swings hard enough.

The Hall of Mirrors is even more fantastic to fae eyes, and, if one takes the right turns, one comes to a most unusual, and disturbing part of it.

In the darkest part of the Park, shaded by other rides, and old twisted trees, is Dr. Lolly's Fun-House. The Building resembles a grotesque clown head, with wide open smile of yellowed teeth, which contains a door. It has a rather ominous, and yet intriguing appeal. It’s almost as if it were shunned by the rest of the Park.

The ‘eyes’ of the building seem to gaze about with a sinister cast, and the mouth looks like it just might devour anyone who is reckless enough to open that door. While the waves of glamour from the Freehold do indeed touch even here, it’s almost as if the FunHouse were not ‘of’ the Hold; A virus, in an otherwise healthy body.

Or perhaps it's time to leave and return to the Autumn World outside the Hold?
