Our aim in setting up the site was to publish and publicise our own writing about being lesbians, women, humans in the 20th and 21st centuries. Some of our writing contains text which could be described as "adult material". The site is certainly not intended to be for an adult audience - ie it does not and will not feature pornography or any other tool of women's oppression and exploitation. The adult material in question refers to sexually explicit descriptions and sexual acts that are beyond the "norm" - whatever that is. Swearing and the expression of lesbian love and lust are not considered to be adult material and will not be flagged up as such. If you come across this symbol * it denotes that the writing you are about to read contains what we consider to be adult material. It may or may not shock or upset you, depending on your experience and attitudes. Now that we have indicated that it contains adult material, you can choose whether or not to read it. Dyke write has expanded and now features the poetry and prose of other online lesbians. We're not responsible for what they write in terms of quality, length, spelling etc. But of course we're responsible if we post anything oppressive or offensive. We will be happy to flag any piece of guest writing should it require it. Please let us know if you feel that the * red star * treatment should be given to any of the writing we feature. We will consider your comments carefully and take the appropriate action. During October 2000 there was a debate in our guestbook about some of the writing featured on this site. It centered around pornography, self expression, and bdsm. You can read the whole debate more easily here or add your own comments in the guestbook itself. Please take time out to read the discussion and think about what u might say in response. Recently one of Dyke Write's visitors suggested that Scarlet's poem ONE THOUSAND ORGASMS should be given the red flag treatment. The poem does mention sex, but neither Scarlet nor Phoenix thought that it was offensive or shocking enough to be included with the adult content writing. If u disagree with this, or would like to comment on our decision, please visit the guestbook and leave a message. We're not inflexible, and could change our minds if enough people think we should ! Dyke Write is not in favour of censorship, and is proud to give space over to the original writing of lesbians, whether or not they enjoy the same acts of love and lust as the site owners. Please respect our desire to provide a free, safe and loving atmosphere for the creativity and self expression of our community.
