Danielle's Gold Court Gown

Costume Description
Green-gold brocade gown with green velvet accents. Floor length, trained. One piece with movie ‘cheats’ - see picture #2. Empire waist, trimmed with gold-white braid. Deep ‘V’ crossover neckline of green-gold brocade (no darts), trimmed with small gold braid. Insert of gathered white brocade, squared. Semi-sheer ‘chemise’ gathered to sleeve cap and wrist, ‘poof’ where gauntlets do not cover. Moss/olive green gauntlets, tied to each other at elbow and then to sleeve cap with rope cording. Trimmed with same braid as neckline. Split overskirt of green-gold brocade, box pleated in back. Underskirt of off-white brocade. Worn with pearl-encrusted gold snood.

It is possible that two long necklaces were meant to be worn with this gown a la Rodmilla's long rope necklace and jeweled cross that she wears with the majority of her gowns. See picture #2. The necklaces were included with the dress in the scene where Danielle's is changing before freeing Maurice, but for some reason, the necklaces were not actually worn. Interesting!

Historical Reference
Thanks to the cosprop.co.uk concept sketches, we know for certain that the vast majority of the costumes in Ever After were inspired by historical paintings, e.g., Danielle's Princess Gown, Danielle's Blue Library Gown, Jacqueline's Green Brocade Gown. We've been able to identify many of the paintings seen in these concept sketches, but since we don't have sketches for each costume, we have to speculate for some. Here is a historical painting with similar elements to Danielle's Gold Court Gown (same bodice):

Miracle of the Cross at the Bridge of St. Lorenzo by Gentile Bellini (and detail)
