The Festivals

I started out in my Pagan life as a Wiccan, as many Pagans do, and my journey towards Celtic Paganism has meant that there are a few things from the Wiccan tradition that were hard to let go of. One of those is setting up my altar with the four directions and the four elements, but I have learned another thing - to honour the Three Elements of Land, Sea and Sky.

Another thing the two traditions have in common is honouring something called the 'Wheel of the Year', celebrating the turning of the seasons and the major festivals. There are four fire festivals and four 'lesser' (though I hesitate to use that word - it's just that they're on the equinoxes and solstices) festivals. If you click on the links below you'll see my versions - and they are completely original thoughts, obviously influenced by what I've learned, and don't necessarily represent what other Pagans believe- of all the Sabbats.

There are also 13 Esbats in the Wheel, and those are the cycles of the Moon, something else I utterly adore. Oh, the roaring of your inner tide on the full moon. . .
