Character levels do not necessarily determine one's skill and strength. They do, however, entitle one to a certain amount of respect. When someone sees that someone is a Lowlander, then they automatically label them either a surf through spammer who is just promoting their site or someone who is very green and doesn't completely know how things work. If they want to others that they are not just the average Message Board member by their actions as much as by increasing their character level. Character levels largely come into play in the Gladiator Ring or in one on one confrontations. The one with the highest character level will nearly always be the victor. Needless to say, character levels don't really come into play with people who only post at fantacy-fictions at Higher Earthendell. Above is a chart with all of the current character classes, their level, and the posts requred to attain that class.
