Earthquake preparedness

Everyone needs to be prepared for an earthquake. There is risk of a
major earthquake or even tsunami, taking place some time in everyone's lifetime. There is large evidence of major earthquakes above 5.5 in richter magnitude occurring every month in our monthly earthquake data.

When and where the next major earthquake will take place cannot be
predicted accurately. Groups of geologists with their knowledge of plate
tectonics and statisticians with their number crunching tools can indicate probability of occurrence and rough estimation about magnitude, time and place of a devastating earthquake.
In almost all cases, predictions lack accuracy and are wrong.

Can we be fully prepared to face a serious earthquake?
Can we ensure a secure life and lifestyle during and after an earthquake?
If there is no earthquake, will all the risk management efforts be mere wastage? As the governments and various humanitarian societies are striving to help
us in every possible way,
should we bother and waste our own time and money?
We will address these questions briefly in following pages.

Earthquake preparedness can be classified in two separate categories,
primary level preparation for earthquake and
secondary level preparation for earthquake.

Both preparations are equally important for earthquake victims and all others.
