Southern California is a dangerous earthquake prone region. The danger in living in south California is due to the SAN ANDREAS FAULT in earthquake language. There are other faults also in Californea region. They may be as dangerous as the San Andreas fault. The danger of loss of life can be reduced by better building design and layout of furniture in the house. Heavy furniture like bookcases, file cabinet, kitchen cupboards, electronic items are vulnerable. Improper anchoring, locking and placing of all vulnerable items may cause death and huge loss of money. Earthquakes may be unavoidable, but damages and losses are not. Take care for each item in the house, office, schools and all other facilities. Carry copies of all important documents, specially insurance papers. Prepare an emerncy plan for facing disastrous earthquakes. A stich in time will save nine. |
