One day, we went to the pet store to buy a new goldfish... Then we saw Ashley. (We now know the pet store is not a good place to buy a dog; back then I thought "AKC registered" meant "Good Breeder.") Anyway, we were shocked to see "Miniature Schnauzer" on her cage. We both thought she was a Westie. The first words out of my mouth were, "I've never seen a white Miniature Schnauzer..." If I had a dime for every time somebody has said that to me, I'd be a millionare!

    Pixie was 4 when we brought Ashley home; it took almost two years for the two to bond, with our constant pleading with Ashley to "be your own dog!" After about 5 years, Ashley finally left Pixie's shadow. But in 2003, when we put Pixie down, Ashley seemed to be missing part of herself - and still seems to know something in her life is missing.
      We tease Ashley about being "blonde." She is not the "sharpest tool in the shed," but she is sweeter than honey! She is very forgiving and compassionate to us, the vet, the other pets and our friends. She can be too friendly, by getting right in your face . Mike calls her "The Personal Space Invader!"
     Ashley has been a dream dog since we brought our son home in 2002. She and Reese are very good friends and we often find Ashley snuggled in Reese's bed in the morning!

UPDATE
In April of 2004, we lost Ashley to cancer. She was only nine years old. Puppy Mill dogs are not healthy dogs. Do NOT buy dogs from pet stores! We all miss her very much.
