Christina is another form of Christiana, the feminine form of Christian, an English vocabulary word for someone belonging to the Christian religion.

History:
As another form of Christiana, Christina, appeared a little after the year 1200 (one of the first noted was Christina Atheling, a granddaughter of Edmund II Ironside, born about 1050). It can also be found in Greece and southern Italy at this time.

In 1632, Queen Kristina of Sweden (1626-1689) took the throne and helped popularize the name in Scandinavia.
