2001 Comeback Player of the Year Results

The HSFL league office announced the results of the 2001 HSFL Comeback Player of the Year Award balloting.

3rd Place--  Brad Harber (13 pts).  Harber received little support in the voting for this award, partly because he has not played in a significant number of games in any season prior to this one.  Harber won the 2001 Most Improved Player Award, which was announced last week.

2nd Place--  Tom Phelps (20 pts).  Despite winning the fan poll on this site by 2 votes, Phelps finished just one point behind Renn in the voting after having one of his best seasons ever.  Phelps played in very few games in 2000, and came back as thin and quick as he has ever been in 2001.  He was also elected to the 2001 Pro Bowl as well.

1st Place--  Jeff Renn (21 pts).  Renn managed to hold off Phelps by one point to win the 2001 Comeback Player of the Year Award.  Renn played in less games than Phelps in 2000, due to basketball, and had a spectacular 2001 campaign.  Renn, like Phelps, was elected to the Pro Bowl this season after finishing third in the voting.

Congratulations to Jeff Renn on winning the 2001 Comeback Player of the Year Award.  The Rookie of the Year Award will be announced next week, so stay tuned and voice your opinion on the fan poll on the front page of this site.
