History
For every autumn weekend since 1997, young men have gathered at a field in Hobart, Indiana to play football.  Born in a town where football reigns supreme, the Hobart Sandlot Football League was formed to provide a stage for those who did not play football for the high school to show their talents.  Freshmen Mike Arana, Bob Glover, Tom Phelps, and Jeff Renn began organizing pick-up games to pass the autumn afternoons.  They continued playing through the autumn of 1998, but the league caught on like wild fire during the 1999 season due to the league's decision to allow actual high school football players to play regularly for the first time ever.  Week by week, more and more people began to join the games.  The HSFL reached virtual city-wide recognition in the 2000 season.  Every high schooler and their brother wanted to play at the Glover Bowl on Sunday afternoons.  The HSFL's biggest day was a four team, double elimination, tournament that spanned an entire Sunday afternoon.  The league's future was in serious question after the 2000 season.  The veterans were getting up there in age, and going off to their respective colleges.  On Saturday, September 1 2001, the HSFL began its fifth season with many of the leagues legends on the field.  The 2001 schedule is expected to have less games than previous years, but the legend of the Glover Bowl lives on.
