There's thousands of dollars in cash and prizes to be won, so what's to stop you from taking it all? The Whammy, that's what. Created by "Savage" Steve Holland, these red... things... sported a yellow cape, eye mask, and a dollar sign branded onto his chest. Several Whammy slides were seen on the board... whammy jumping, whammy with a hammer, whammy sticking his tongue out at you, whammy stretching... but it meant the same thing: bye bye big bucks.
Whenever a Whammy was hit, it took away your cash (obviously), mocked you in a short animation, and made a yellow Whammy card pop out in front of you. 4 Whammies in one game took you out of the game.
Like most sites, this page is a listing of all the different Whammy animations seen on the show. You'll notice that in most animations, Whammy ends up getting blown up, crushed, or embarrassed in some other way. But this didn't prevent the loss of cash. Let the list begin!

Whammy with Mallet: The only one seen in the pilot, and the inspiration for 4 of the 5 original Whammy slides. Whammy appears in a WHAM! puff of smoke at the left of the screen, jumps around a bit, whips out his hammer, and runs across the screen, pulverizing the player's score.
Whammy Jumping: Same as the previous, only in the center and without the mallet.
Whammy with Lawnmower: Whammy must think money is grass, as he mows it away, laughing the whole time.
Whammy with Snowblower: Whammy pushes a snowblower and laughs, but halfway across the screen, he slips on some ice and a pile of snow splats on his face.
Whammy with Bulldozer: This Whammy laughs and bulldozes your score away before crashing offscreen.
Whammy Hula Dancer: This Whammy hulas across your cash. However, he hulas a bit too far and lands right in the Pacific!
Whammy Roller Skater: This Whammy is skating out of control across the screen. About midway he slips and lands hard on his back. Ouch...
Whammy Skateboarder: This Whammy skateboards across the screen. Too bad he didn't see the smiling tree ahead...
Whammy Skier: A really early Whammy, as can be told by the giant ugly eyes and smile he has. Whammy skis down a hill before smacking into a snowman.
Whammy on Flying Carpet: Another early Whammy. This one, wearing a turban and flying on a magic carpet, says "1,001 Pardons for taking your money!" The carpet then takes off without him, causing Whammy to fall.
Whammy Astronaut: A rare one, but I've seen this one for myself. Whammy is behind a dark gray rocket with "PYL83" (you can only guess what that means...) The countdown "3... 2... 1... BIG BUCKS!!!" The ship takes off without him. Whammy whines "But I thought I had the right stuff" after the hit movie that had debuted at the time. This line was later changed to "Hey, you were supposed to wait for me!"
Whammy in UFO: A Whammy in a yellow UFO abducts your score, but gets electrocuted in the process.
Whammy on Bicycle: Whammy rides in on a bike shouting "Look, Ma! No hands and no bucks!" He then goes out of control and crashes. "Whoops".
Whammy on Dollar Bill: Or, to be more precise, a "One Whammy" bill. The bill slides in to the sound of a cash register. Whammy, with a George Washington wig on in the middle, shouts "Heeheehee, I cannot tell a lie! YOU LOSE!!!" The bill slides off again to another register.
Whammy Boxer: This Whammy shouts "Bring on Rocky! Bring on Rocky! l want him! l want..." A giant boxing glove propelled by a spring sends him flying.
