Steve's Skeptical Page

This page is dedicated to the idea that reason should be the basis for our decisions, not superstition.  The basic rule (as often stated in science) is "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence".  Basically, the more extreme the theory, the stronger must the evidence be to be trustworthy.  A case in point, the conspiracy theories about a U.S. government cover-up concerning the existence of aliens at military installations.  For these claims to be true, there must be a huge network of people, not even one of whom has talked in all these years!!!  Now, I'm not a person to blindly trust our government, in fact, I think that they screw up about 100 times for every 1 thing they get right.  However, in the words of Dave Barry (at least a paraphrase of them) "I have a hard time believing that our government, which generally displays all the sublety of an exploding cigar at a state funeral, is capable of covering up such a huge thing".  Of course, if you watch the X-Files (tm, C and R, 20th Century Fox) you know that our government is really powerless, being controlled by a small group of people (mostly men, of course) who prefer to meet in smoke-filled rooms with the shades drawn.  So, if you do believe that the X-Files is telling the truth, then please don't read any more of this page, as you won't find it filled with the proper paranoia.  If, however, you realize the X-Files is fiction/entertainment read on.

If you're wondering why the heck would I bother with something these web pages, please click here to go to my "why" page...

I've set up a page with my reviews - a place for me to spout off about things I've read or seen.  There really isn't much there (still...) but I have a bunch of things that I just haven't had time to upload yet.  Expect more in the relatively near future...

Steve's Review Page.

Because I took a class last spring on Creation and Evolution as differing world views, I've set up a page of links to various resources related to both sides of the debate.

Steve's Creation/Evolution Web Links.
