It has been a while huh? What's been goin' on, what's been happening? Well for one, I've been working away on the 3rd EJC house album and the 1st 'draught' has been finished. I basically ran into a couple of problems thougfh and it's something that I'm learning from. Because of the time taken to place some of the submitted music into one of EJ2DJ's projects, (as some artists have commented), the tracks become 'old'. Now to me this is nonsence because a) music does'nt age (not this kind anyway) and b) I'm doing my best to make these tunes sound fresh. My main problem is that in trying to incorporate some of the original content from the fest sets, I've not got the original files so my copies are not really playable since they were dragged off of my original compilation demo. I've been trying to locate the original mp3's but it's proving difficult. So, there's a chance I won't be able to implement those 5 or 6 original tracks and what I've done with the 1st draught of the house cd, is to basically start from scratch with all the newer music on the stockpiled lists.
Another problem has been locating some of the artists. Either their emails are no longer valid or they've moved away from the community and of course without their permission and signed copyright form I can't use thier music which in turn means I have to drop their track/s from a perfectly working set. In future to combat this all artists are going to have to submit a
copyright form as soon as they submit their music.
One final problem with this particular album is the genre. I downloaded every track on my
stockpiled lists and was suprised to learn there were only about 6 'house' sounding tracks. The rest were mainly trance. That part is'nt suprising as the community is on the whole a mainly trance orientated one but it has meant that the mix as it sits so far sounds more drance than it does house. I may have to canvass for more house tunes before I go any further. Most of this set is in place now so watch for details comming soon on who's in the mix. Keep posted!!

Well some may say what progress? Nothing's been happening' lately! True. Maybe.
Truth is I've been very busy trying to promote and get online my
own DJ sets as this was a project I had put on the back burner when I was asked to get involved with the eJayberfest 2001 event. With over 30 sets to get transferred onto CD, 30 album covers to produce, 30 of this and 30 of that - well you can see how much work that lot has taken!
Also, as many of you will know, although the first 2 of the 4 albums I have been creating re
The EJC have been produced, the other 2 I have kinda been stringing out. Mainly because I wanted them all finished by the time the next fest comes around, but also while I collate not only the old, but the newest eJay material submitted EJ2DJ's way.
eJay has a habit of forever producing numerous packages, and since Dance 6 (apparently the last chapter in the dance series) is due out soon, it only seems logical to hang on a little while longer so that the third album, the house album, incorporates the latest eJay software efforts including DE6, partly what these albums are all about.
So with those excuses out of the way I'll sod off again and get on with my sound mastering and await those freshest tracks. If you've got a new masterpiece made by any of the dance packages, still submit them because they stand as good as chance as anyone else in getting included on the eagerly awaited
eJay Collective house album.
Don't forget also, I am still looking for a title for this album, so get along to the
competitions page and submit your entries. You never know you could win the house album - even all 4.

- Well it's been a long time since I've had a chance to do any work here at EJ2DJ mainly because of unforseen happenings at the beginning of the year. First we had a major flood which inspired a complete paint-shop around the studio and we are still trying to finish the much-needed re-wiring. Also I've been busy working on my own non-ejay related DJ mixes which now total 28, plus a couple of eJay tracks. Its been busy! Anyhow, I'm now gearing up once again to get started on the 3rd installment which is the house album, so keep posted for the progress.

- Phew and what a busy time xmas was too! Xmas parties galore with plenty of mince pies, turkey and even the odd spot of music. Alas though, it's now all over and back to work. I envisage 2003's gonna be an exciting year what with at least 2 more albums to complete covering House & Trance which are sure to go down better than the Ambient & hiphop albums that went before. Also been very busy upgrading the Live365 radio station. Its all gone stereo now which means unfortunately poor old modem users may have a hard time tuning in. By my reconing Broadband is the future and so why not show off the music the way it's meant to be heard eh? I've also upgraded over xmas to a more speedier 1K service which had to be done. On a peronal level, I hope to be playing a few live sets this year, not only from ej2dj but over at Recordheadz.com and my first 'gig' will be in March so look out for that soon.

- Still having trouble finishing this HipHop Album, due to various factors. The main one still being finding the right ending. I've even resorted to using my new copy of
HH4 to make another track but have come stuck half way through that as well! Still I'm doing a little each day which is hard because another reason for the slowdown is my new girlfriend. Jeeze I can understand why the rest of the Beetles were having a problem with Yoko Ono! She's always hanging around and has a different kind of music on her mind ;)
Love is indeed a wonderful thing but when a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do...
- Updated the main front page.
- Finally started the mamouth task of transfering all my DJ Sets from the last 12 years onto CD. Lots of mastering to do though to get them to reasonable quality as they were mainly all recorded live and on cassette. The first one I plucked at random is a set I recorded back in
'97 @The Portland which is one of the only pubs big enough to do live performances from both DJ's & Bands. Boy I'm on a little nostalgia trip. Once I get the thing mastered I'll put it up on Live 365.

- Finally managed to tweak an album version of my track
Watcha Gonna Want so it works better with Slippy T's, Get Cool, Cos It's Like That. Trouble is, Slippy has'nt got this uploaded anywhere anymore, and the only version I've got (even after tweaking) is not very crisp on the top end, so I'm trying to deal with a quality issue so the transition is smoother. It it working well though and it's allowing me to get a little drum'n'bass in there at the same time.
