Early 21st Century
In the first few years of the 21st Century, the United Nations created the "Interstellar settlement" Program. A Program that allows human settlement in the surrounding space sectors near Earth. As an international program, settlers from around the world flocked to the habitat stations being constructed in space. Essentially terrariums in space, each colony is climate control to allow the best agricultural and environmental conditions. The space population erupted into the millions within the first few years of the program.
Near the end of the first decade, most of the habitat stations, who were mostly self-sufficient, request independence from their home countries. Despite early refusals, the UN formed the Settlement Act of 2010. This granted the regions of habitat stations their right to govern themselves as independent nations. However, the Act of 2010 allows and requires the UN Stellar Fleet to maintain the peace and to perform police action if necessary.
The First Stellar War
As things are, eventually tensions grew between a few neighboring habitat stations. In 2018, the Neunian Republic opened hostilities to its neighboring countries. Space warfare now uses humanoid robots called "Armor Strike Warriors" or ARSWs. Invented by science institutions from the space nations, they are designed with gigantic war potential in just about every environment. Including space, earth, moon, arctic, desert, and aquatic. The model used by most of the nations in space are known as Lance-types.
The UN Stellar fleet soon responded as accordingly to the Act of 2010. The UN force included the newer Falchion-types, an improved variant of the Lance-type. As were expected, the UN was able to push back the Neunian invasion forces back to their home territory.
Out of nowhere, though, came the Yajinreth. A large force of computer-controlled ARSWs with tremendous firepower directed by an unknown entity. In a televised speech, the Neunian government welcomed the Yajinreth as their friend and renewed their offensive. The Yajinreth used a state-of-the-art ARSW codenamed Myrmidon. The Neunian republic's military ARSW forces were quickly upgraded by the newly available Myrimdon units. These units assisted the Neunian forces to wreck havoc on the UN Stellar fleet, driving it back to the home sector "Terrania". Terrania is the immediate area around Earth with the lunar orbit as its boundaries.
It is now 2019 AD. The UN Stellar fleet is severely weakened. While the Neunian government continues on with its Yajinreth ally, people are not only worried about the future of the Earth Quarter, but who are these Yajinreth? Where did they come from? Why did they side with the Nuenian Republic?
But worst yet...
What do they really want?
NeoDroid Development Project
At the dawn of the new millennium, a project went underway to increase capabilities in tactical analysis and intelligence. Previously, recon satellites and drones were used to conduct battles on Earth. With the possibility of space warfare, a new medium of tactical intelligence was researched.
There are generally 3 views in the battlefield. Offense, defense, and the emotional. Old style supercomputers were too difficult to work with, so the researchers chose to use androids. Easier to communicate with, and a lot more practical than their goliath supercomputer counterparts, three "NeoDroids" were planned for assembly.
The first NeoDroid was designed and programmed for Offense. The second was for Defense, and the third was planned to tackle Emotion. An elite, state-of-the-art supercomputer was tasked to monitor the NeoDroids. When the first NeoDroid was completed, something happened. The Offense Neodroid was given immense physical abilities, and within hours of activation went haywire. Before leaving the now damaged research facility, the NeoDroid took the CPU and main processor unit of the "Caretaker" supercomputer. Military forces tracked down the rogue Neodroid until they found its disabled homing beacon in the middle of a desert.
The second NeoDroid was complete but not fully-equipped by then. The NeoDroid was down-graded a bit as a precaution before activation. To the relief of the scientist, Unit 2 was stable, though less physically capable than its predecessor.
Unfortunately, the project was discontinued after the escape. Unit 3 was not yet completed and there is no official record of what happen to the incomplete Neodroid.
Meanwhile, Unit 2 was place in custody of the UN, where its sentience was proven. Under a new identity, Unit 2 was brought into society.
Project G-Blade
After the introduction and initial mass production of the Armor Strike Warrior (ARSW), efforts were made to research advance ARSW technology. Funded by the UN, the Project's first product is the Neuron-control system. In theory, the system links up with the nervous system of an operator allowing heightened sensor and reflex capabilities.
In the initial testing process, the researchers discover that only a specific pattern of genes in humans would allow a pilot to use the system. Or rather, a unique brainwave pattern. Any pilot could interface with the system, but the more the pilot can match the system patterns, the more efficient it became.
Finding a large lack of such operators, the UN turns to its known assets. They located and discovered the Unit 2 NeoDroid from the NeoDroid Development Project. Unit 2 apparently matched the requisites for the Neuron-control system.
Unfortunately, the system appeared too powerful at first.
The Project was soon handed over to a private corporation known as Genesis Technologies. A company known for elite ARSW research and manufacturing. Based in the new outpost on Mars, Genesis Tech created the Demi-Neuron control system (a simmered down version of the first Neuron control system).
Unit 2 was successfully able to use the latest system to its full potential. The Demi-Neuron system was then implemented into 14 newly constructed, revolutionary, state-of-the-art ARSWs known as G-Blades.
Special Ops (ARSW) "Valkyrie Team"
With the invention of the expensive yet powerful control system, the Project created its own ARSWs. Supplied and manufactured by Genesis Technologies, 14 G-Blades (as they were called) units were built. Tasked to a special ops team, all are equipped with the DemiNeuron control system. The team consists of pilots, an engineering support team, and other support personnel from Genesis Technologies.
Currently, Company Commander of ARSWs is Shing Guo, the human alias for the Unit 2 Neodroid. At first he is the only pilot on the Valkyrie Team until further results come from the HALO Committee.
The support team is headed by a member of Genesis Technologies.
Along with the G-Blade Units, Genesis Technologies developed a new line of space battlecrusier. A Crimson Hare-class crusier, it is named the Asylum. Aside from the prototype ship Crimson Hare, it is the only ship of its class.
Unfortunately, the Team was on constant standby with little or no missions. Eventually, with decreased funding, the G-Blades and Asylum was placed in storage indefinitely. Now the Valkyrie Team has to work with regular ARSWs.
However, after the drastic turn of the First Stellar War, under the orders of Project G-Blade, the 17 known possible operators of the DemiNeuron system were evacuated from Earth. From there, the G-Blades and the Asylum were returned to the Valkyrie Team to combat the approaching Yajinreth forces.
The HALO Committee
A small subdivison of Project G-Blade, they look for possbile operators of the DemiNeuron System. It was this committee that found Unit 2 as a possible operator.
The pilots they found, however, were quite unexpected.
A total of 17 potential pilots were located, all of them between the ages of 17 and 19. In addition to the existing pilot Shing Guo, they are: Nicholas (aka Nikki) Inox, Walter Emerchik, Kotu Tomorari, Raquib, Jason Waldvogel, Larson Ping, Kelan Dotson, Millesandra de Tygre, Saron Anasta, Alex Black, Ari Hayai, Kal'tino, Yuri Spitzkoff, Jaylor Militieds, Ally Alabei, Cao Ling, and Nadia Blue.
