TAUNTON'S COLLEGE
       SOUTHAMPTON
The college
Taunton's College is a Further Education College along Hill Lane, Southampton.  It's where I did my A levels for two years, before coming to university.  My sister has now just started her A level courses at Taunton's too.
The students
The students at Taunton's college are mainly between 16 and 19 years of age and most study for two years to gain three A levels.  There are many local schools which feed pupils to Taunton's: Oaklands, Regents Park, Bellemoor and more.
My course
I took A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Pure Mathematics, in which I got BBC.  I also did AS Statistics in the first year and AS German in the second year, in which I got an A and a B respectively.  I also sat the General Studies paper and got an A.
The common
The college happens to be situated right near Southampton Common which was lovely to visit during free lessons.  During the Summertime there were always people playing football or something there.  I also remember one message in the weekly notices about students drinking on the common - what those students get up to!
Music
The college has an excellent and expanding music department, headed by Mrs Jane Higgins.  During my time at Taunton's, I was in the choir.  For my first Christmas there we sang Handel's Messiah.  I enjoyed it a lot.  The standard of the choir at Taunton's was very good, and I learnt a lot there which is helping me in the Choral Society at Bath University now.
The teachers
I'd like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Taunton's who taught me during my two years there, they deserve medals!
