When the old enchantress learns a Prince has been visiting Rapunzel...she becomes very upset, and implores her to say with her. Still, the Witch will not share her 'daughter' with anyone...and chops of Rapunzel's long yellow hair. Soon, the items for the potion are obtained (within the intended time: 3 midnights). The potion is produced, the Witch drinks it-and on the last chime-is restored to her former state of youth and beauty....yet, the change has left her powerless. The Act II, she loses her Rapunzel to the Giantess...and vows to find the lad Jack and feed him to the Giant. As the tention in the woods increases, and people begin to blame one another for the trouble, it boils down to her. She gives her point of veiw, that it is the last midnight and gives herself up to the punishment of her mother...dissappearing in a cloud of smoke.
