Sylvia's Tips For Coping With The Urges 1. Hurt something other than yourself: Rips a pillow, tear a towel, or break something. As long as you don't hurt yourself, someone else's property, or someone else, tell mom, dad, husband, wife or roomie to watch out, and let loose. 2. Talk to somebody: a therapist, friend, a relative, whatever. Talking to someone helps you figure out what's wrong. When you know what's wrong you can (possibly) fix it. 3. Eat chocolate! Chocolate is proven to release endorphins, a happy chemical that increases joy. 4. Go for a run. Exercise will tone you up and keep you mind off the urges. 5. Read a book, or study. Make sure it's something you'll really get into, so you'll occupy your mind. 6. Listen to some happy songs that'll maybe get you up and dancing! :D 7. Wear a rubber band and whenever you feel the urge, SNAP! It's a great gradually way to stop hurting yourself. 8. Find a friend, and steal a hug. 9. Draw, paint, create art, and let you emotions out. 10. Write a poem, story or in a journal. Another great way to let your emotions out. |
