Andrea McArdle makes this original cast of Annie the best cast ever. Her voice is forever remembered and utilized as a model in all subquent versions of Annie. In this album, everything is original, from being from the original Broadway performance, to having the Original Broadway Cast, and the original orchestrations the composers had in mind.
Besides having all the numbers from the original production, it as well holds a compilation of songs that were cut before the final revision of the musical. This bonus material is Martin Charnin and Charles Strouse with their first draft of Annie for backer's auditions. These numbers, precious to any avid Annie fan, are the following:
- Apples - an introductory number that was to play following the Overture. It features three apple street sellers who remark the difference in the standard of living between the prosperous decade of the 1920's, and the Depression of the 1930's. According to the composer, this song was removed because it set too much tone and style, and halted the plot before it began.
- We Got Annie
- a number performed by the customers who come into the beanery where Annie is. These customers explain why nothing else matter, when they've "got Annie."
- Just Wait
- this song is indeed "Little Girls" for the exception of the lyrics, and the context it conveys. "Just Wait" shows Miss Hannigan's dislike for Annie in excess... extremely much excess. Miss Hannigan's disgust is not just for Annie, but for all girls. With the later lyrics and name("Little Girls"), this problem was resolved.
- That's The Way It Goes
- Miss Hannigan and Rooster perform this song. It was however cut early, when Rooster's girlfriend, Lily, was added. While in the process of becoming a trio, this number was changed altogether to "Easy Street", keeping the same focus and context.
- Parents
- the last five couples remaining in Warbuck's mansion sing this number. Each one of them belongs to a different ethnic group: English, Spanish, Jewish, Irish, and Black, respectively. All of them claiming to be Annie's parents.
- I've Never Been So Happy
- a piece in which Annie expresses her uncontainable happiness about the way things have turned out for her after getting know to Warbucks.
- Tomorrow(First Public Performance)
- the first taped public performance of "Tomorrow."
