When the sun is shining in the Northern hemisphere and the watch laying flat on the ground, point the hour hand of the watch towards the sun. The space half-way between the hour hand and the minute hand twelve is the south/north line Before twelve noon, north is the line of the bisected angle running counterclockwise from the hour to minue hand.
